I’m making a web bomberman game in Godot, Mushboom, and I added first person view (shown in video) 😁
Great, I hope you have success.
Random story from my youth:
Around 2006 when I was in Training as an IT specialist and when LAN parties were still a thing, the boys in my class had to much fun playing a rip-off version called “bombeerman”. Instead of bombs you would place beer barrels that explode in a foam fontaine…
Anyway, the game was written in Java and I discovered, that the sprites can be replaced by any image with the same resolution. So I made versions with Mario, Link, Samus and co. Making it one of the first personal experiences with moding for me.
I have no idea why I remember about this now :D
Sweet!
Very nice.
BTW, we do have our very own YouTube alternative in the fediverse called peertube 😉
The Adventures of Mycelio & Mushbro
Oh, how fun! It seriously looks great - very well done! :D
Thank you! :)
Video requires age verification for some reason!? 😅
@kamstrup@programming.dev whaaat :( I checked and there’s nothing in the settings that would point to me having control over it, it’s not marked as adult content
It seems I cannot access Vimeo at all without age verification. So not just your video.
I cannot even log in and core the videos I bought a few years ago!
Oh… that sucks… I’m going to reconsider moving my videos to PeerTube instead, keep it all open source. I forget what was the exact reason I chose Vimeo over it, I think it was because of embedding in a particular website that only allows Vimeo or Youtube.
Looks great, congrats.
A suggestion, may be the 1st person view needs a mini map? Or easy mode has a mini map while hard mode is surprise on every corner.
Thank you :)
The main point of first person view is that you don’t know exactly where the other players are. However there are still some things that would make the experience much better - vfx that go vertically wherever a puffball is placed and as they explode, better sfx, instead of that green flat background it’d be a 3D environment that is different on each side so you can use it as a sort of compass.
But eventually, just to give the players the choice, I will add the mini-map. After all my other fixes for it are done because I want to get proper feedback on that mode to get it to feel good without the mini-map.
